  1. recently I just saw someone encode video and adding more details on it

What filter I should use to make my video from like this

    Code:
    http://i.imgbox.com/x5X6VTwC.png
    to this
    Code:
    http://i.imgbox.com/ZD1101sl.png
I want to convert some of my movies to make it better to watch. Thanks.

ps: I'm usually sing staxrip and not familiar with virtualdub. But staxrip has various avisynth filter that I can use.
I just don't know what filter to use.

  2. Sharpen()
or some other sharpening filter. And it really isn't adding details.

I tried MSharpen with various value but didn't result like that
    even hurting the real video

  4. It's local contrast enhancement

e.g NonlinUSM in avisynth is one method of getting similar results

These settings are close to your image, but the area around glasses are still a bit off. You can play with the settings to get it closer or however you want it to look

    Code:
    NonlinUSM(str=0.35, rad=8, pow=0.85)
(And it's not really "adding more details", it's altering the contrast locally)

Added source, encode (in case your host goes down), nonlinusm images
    Image Attached Files
