Hi everybody I ran into an anomaly I need some expert help with. I haven't been able to find a fix in any previous threads.
At some point I lost transparency in video content with an alpha channel.
I use Pinnacle Studio 18 & 19, Magix MovieEditPro Premium 2014 & 2015, Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 & X9, and Cyberlink PowerDirector14 for editing. All of them rely on Quicktime .mov files for alpha channel transparency I believe.
I recently found none of the editors had an alpha channel when I was importing Digital Juice animations exported as .mov's with embedded alpha. I can export as a .png image sequence and drop them on an overlay track and have transparent areas but not in .mov's.
From what I understand most everyone else merely needs Quicktime codec pack only, installed on their system to take advantage of alpha overlay channels in the aforementioned consumer level video editing packages. I uninstalled Quicktime in early July and then reinstalled Quicktime 7.79.80 codecs only (no player, browser plugins or anything else). I think I lost the alpha channel before this but I don't know for certain. The reinstall did not restore my alpha channel.
After searching I found Quicktime Alternative 3.2.2 and it fixed the problem for me. Then yesterday I came to the realization that iTunes was completely frozen on my system. I've tried to repair iTunes to no avail as long as I have QT Alternative installed it will not work. No doubt because the version of quicktime in QT alternative is from 2010 when the software was last updated.
The NLE title editors still overlay text and I can drop a .png graphic with alpha on the timeline and it displays correctly also in preview and render but no alpha possible using video files. PowerDirector has built-in PIP animations and particle generators that still overlay properly.
I'm certain there's a lot I don't understand or misunderstand about how the alpha channel works in Studio and the others.
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me determine why my alpha channel isn't working in the first place then I can uninstall QT Alternative and get iTunes working to sync my phone, etc.
If it matters to anyone Magix MovieEditPro Premium handles the Digital Juice content best of the lot of programs mentioned above.

Thanks but as far as I can see Apple stopped selling the Windows version of Pro.

Buy a big SSD USB storage device and just use PNG Stills. That's what the pros do anyway.

You shouldn't need Quicktime Pro to get alpha. Regular Quicktime should do it. But there are probably still traces of QT Alt in Powerdirector and iTunes that are messing you up. Some uninstalling, cleaning and reinstalling may help.
