  1. Hello
    Please check this x264 setting
    Code:
    level=4.1:mixed-refs=1:vbv-bufsize=78125:vbv-maxrate=62500:rc-lookahead=40:qpmax=51:qpmin=10:ref=5:direct=auto:b-pyramid=none:me=umh:trellis=2:deblock=-1,-1
    Where i am wasting cpu? i use this setting to encode 720p@950kb/s

  2. me and subme are some of the biggest consumer of encoding time.

    Could probably save some time by using trellis=1 instead of trellis=2.

    Hello
    As i know subme and me has big impact in quality ( on low bitrates)

    You think it has low impact on quality?

    That wasn't your original question. If you want the best quality, what do you care how long it takes.

    It has a higher CPU demand for just a small benefit. I would just stick with the x264 presets if I were you.

    If you really want to go 720p at 950kbps then you had probably better leave Trellis=2 and UMH. Might as well go L3.0, too.

    My recommendation would be to just about triple the bitrate, depending on your source.
