Hello, I'm trying to encode using a very specific version of x264, and compare encodes with other versions.
x264 core 80 r1376M 3feaec2
I found the source but not a compiled version, and I'm not able to compile it.
I'm trying to recreate an old encode as close as possible but newer versions add more options, the purpose of this is to get some compatibility with an old device.
With the current test encode I'm losing some speed with 29.97 fps, I want to know if using this old version may make it easier to decode.
If someone can explain to me that older versions aren't really easier to decode, then that would save me some time.
Basically the old encode plays perfectly but my recreation has some slowdown, the clear difference I see is that my encode has some extra settings and is a recent x264.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

older versions aren't really easier to decode. If you have an old encode that appears to play more smoothly, the difference is likely in the setting used
You can make an encoder easier to decode by adding --tune fastdecode . You can also use VBV settings and bitrate ranges appropriate for your target device -
OK
