More or less i was interested in driver family to check how accessible and what kind of limitations are related - i have no problem to check intel and nvidia driver - selecting 576i/480i is very simple and it works as expected (worse case scenario - custom video mode - enter details about desired video mode and it works).
I need to find AMD GPU equipped PC (i may have one with X300 Radeon).
Side to this to address your question about progressive video source - as long your source will have parameters of PAL/NTSC signal then it should work for both - best source from your perspective can be Amiga (same vintage as Fairlight - maybe minimig ?) also on your side i would consider to use RPi with VGA converter as video source for Fairlight.
Once again - i'm impressed by this vintage and almost jealous- hope you will have lot of fun with Fairlight.

You will need Windows XP. You might ask about this card at http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/ to see if it has any issues you need to worry about. There are people there who still use the AIW cards for capture and know a lot about the various models. The AIW cards were way beyond my budget back when I had a PC running XP. I just remembered that the AIW cards had limited or no compatibility with Windows OSs after XP and looked it up.
I don't know what would happen with progressive VGA RGB input. With such a rare and expensive device I would want assurance from someone who had one that no damage would result from trying it. Too bad there appears to be no users group for it to ask about suitable RGB input.
