    Hello everybody,

I'm converting a .mov photo JPEG film file to either DV or DNxHD for use in Pro Tools as these are the recommended formats.
I'm using MPEG Streamclip for this. Whenever I load the film (49 gigabytes) into the program it goes into "preparing". If I click on the window I get a "Not Responding" message at the top of the window. Now I can't tell if it's legitimately crashed or it is just processing the large film file.

It has created the file on my desktop with "0 KB" file size but my CPU isn't doing anything.

    What should I do?

How long did you wait? It may be scanning the entire file before you do anything, which could take awhile depending on your hardware.

About 25 minutes so far. I'm just not sure if I should try over or if it will go "bing!" in three hours and be done.

I'm running it on an SSD with an i7 5820k, and 16 GB of RAM on Windows 10. Any guesstimates? I know this stuff can take a while.

  4. MPEG streamclip uses 32-bit quicktime so you can expect a long transcode. Obviously that doesn't preclude something else being wrong as well.

FFmpeg with any of its front ends would be faster and more up to date. WINFF, for one has DV presets.

I'm giving WINFF a try. It's truckin' in the background. Fingers crossed.
