    Hello,

I'm using this MSU Subtitle remover filter (3.0 Beta 2 ) with VirtualDub 1.10.4. I choose option "detect and remove the subtitles" in the filter settings and saved as AVI.
However it shows that projected file size of 300GB for the 3 GB video

Does anyone know that could be wrong?

    Thanks

I have Divx Pro installed on Win7 64-bit. I don't see DivX codec listed.

    Does VirtualDub support DivX codec?

  4. I don't know for sure, but DivX Pro probably includes a h264/AVC encoder rather than the old ASP encoder similar to XVid. Chances are it's not a "video for windows" codec, which is what VirtualDub traditionally uses.

I don't know how DivX distributes their encoders these days. ie as a standalone command line encoder or if you're forced to use their software for encoding or if they have VFW versions. Someone else may know. Most people around here currently use the x264 encoder (much better than Xvid), and it's pretty much the benchmark for h264/AVC encoding quality. The x265 encoder is under development for h265/HEVC encoding.

The newer VirtualDub versions have an external encoder feature under the options menu for using command line encoders (generally exe files) rather than VFW codecs, as the VFW system has some serious limitations. A VirtualDub external encoder preset has to be created correctly, and rather then use the standard "File/Save As AVI" method for re-encoding, you use the "File/Export/Use External Encoder" function instead.

Me too would like to know which is the last version of DivX that includes the VfW ASP encoder

I'm still using the build 6.8.5 that I got years ago, thru the "Giveaway Of The Day" web site...

mainly because Xvid's scene-change detection algorithm is not configurable.
