can't rip/read dvd created with lg rct689h

Hi

i have recoredered several dvd with the LG rct689h , i can play them and watch them on tv

but i tried to read/rip with my imac thout luck , i tried to use a toshiba dvd burner

yosemite does not recognize the dvd

yes my external drive is a samsung Se218 , connected to the my imac via usb
