This is not a question it is a tip which others may have discovered but I have not til today.
My Handbrake and Vidcoder both crashed when attempting to encode from a TS folder.
After loading my video emulator, the process went ahead and did not crash.
The emulator is usually used with DVD source material.

Video emulator? Nintendo or Sega?

No nothing that sophisticated for me. It was simply my way of acknowledging use of AnyDVD loaded before running Handbrake for encoding a TS Folder.
I had not made the connection of TS files as being in this case from a DVD format.
Running AnyDVD was necessary to prevent system crashes of this TS folder.
I thought the tip might be of some value. The word emulator may have been a gaffe.
But a discussion of emulators as you mention may be of value as well.
