  1. Hey guys, nice forum.

Didn't know which subforum this belongs in, I am looking for a reputable source for genuine HP (hewlett packard) projector lamp units.

My lamp is at the end of it's life (still functional) but I've spent the last month trying to find a working replacement.

I first tried ordering from lampspros.com (do NOT buy from there), the first unit they sent me did not work, the second one they sent worked for about an hour before burning out, and the third one worked for about five minutes before exploding inside the projector. Broken glass all over the inside of the unit and mercury vapor all over the inside of my home theater room. Needless to say I returned the third one for a refund.

I next tried staples.com, the first one they sent was for the wrong projector and didn't fit, the second one they sent, about half the screen was really bright and the other half barely lit up at all. Sent those back for a refund and that brings me back to square one: An original lamp with 2100+ hours on it that badly needs replacement.

So I was wondering if anyone here knew where I could find a reputable dealer to obtain a genuine projector replacement lamp unit that works properly and doesn't explode. Money is not an object as long as it works. I don't trust google or yelp ratings because they gave those...uh...individuals at lampspros.com five stars when they are obviously sourcing cheap defective chinese knockoff lamp units that are patently dangerous whenever power happens to be applied.

The nameplate on the projector says the lamp is part# 60.J3503.041. Is there a way to just buy this part # from hp directly?

Any and all suggestions welcome. Thank you.

    A couple of sources:

    http://www.projectorcentral.com/HP-lamp-suppliers.htm

I've dealt with Projector Central for several years and they have a good reputation.

The model number of the projector is very important, especially if it isn't originally made by HP.
The bulb part number may have changed from the original.

    And welcome to our forums.
