This is concerning SVCDs:

In WinXP, any SVCDs I playback in Windows Media Player 6.4 playback perfectly fine, in a correct aspect ratio, filling the entire screen.

However in Win98, whenever I try to playback an SVCD in WMP6.4, the aspect ratio is "smushed" to look like this:

-----------------------
| --------- |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| --------- |
-----------------------

(did a preview, and yes the ASCII picture above got messed up, but you should get the general idea)

Doing a search of .ax files on both partitions, I noticed that "Mpeg2Decoder.ax" and "Mpeg2Parser.ax" are not installed on my WinXP partition. (I assumed as such, as I never downloaded the MPEG2Codec ZIP for WinXP, WMP just seemed to play them automatically; something Win98 didn't do, hence me downloading the Codec for 98)

So, does the MPEG2Codec just give a warped aspect ratio? The SVCDs are apparently playing in WinXP via a different codec, and subsequently a different aspect ratio. (I could list all of the .AX files on my XP partition if that will help) VideoLAN plays the files in 98 with the correct aspect ratio, but SASAMI2K doesn't. Also note that I don't have a DVD drive on this computer.

Thanks for any insight.
