I'm wondering if it's possible to edit idx/sub subtitles.

I've found a few annoying errors in some TV shows. For instance, the use of the term "tyres screeching..."
I don't know who created the subtitles, but they did a very good job for the most part, only some minor spelling errors like the one shown above (tyres should be tires)

I like the format they are in, idx/sub because the subs change location depending on speaker/other info on the screen.
srt files tend to overlap credits at the beginning of movies as well as fonts, italics, bold and other formatting.

So, the question being, is it possible to edit the subtitles in some way without converting to srt with OCR and dealing with all those errors.
Example: convert to another, less annoying format, then edit, then convert back to idx/sub

    Thanx in advance...

You would have to extract the subtitles to image files (as that's what they really are, idx/sub stores bitmaps, not text) and edit them in an image editing software and then make a new set of idx/sub from that.
The editing part can be a good deal of tedious work and you would need to find out the original font, outline, spacing, etc. for it to look like it's original.

"Tyre" is generally the spelling used in British English, I believe. This article may explain it better: http://grammarist.com/spelling/tire-tyre/

Being from Canada, I didn't know there was a difference in spelling and I can learn to accept that.
I'll have to keep it in mind that some words have different spelling in different parts of the world.

    Thanx for the info.
