Hi guy's
hopefully someone can help, my problem is i've got a load of full Blu Ray Iso files, i want to stream or play of usb on my Panasonic Smart TV. I've used MakeMKV which i find great to use, now some will play perfectly but others Jump, pixelate and are unwatchable.
is there away around this, been told to convert the MKV or ISO to MP4, questions is will i lose qaulity which is the most important thing.
is there an prog that will keep the same size file and quality which converts to MP4 or is there away around playing all MKV's on the TV.
any help would be great
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Any reason why MP4? Unless you are converting the lossless audio to AAC or another apple form there is no point in MP4. Anywho, it's just a container. My TV for instance will play MKV files but not MP4 via USB.
-
no real reason only because some of the MKV's won;t play but MP4's will.
i basically want my Full Blu Ray iso's converted without quality loss and played on my Pany TV without problems -
TVs have restrictions on what they will play in specific containers and some restrictions on what they will play that are independent of the type of container. Trying solve your problem by guessing isn't a good approach.
More information would help. Use MediaInfo to generate a report on one of the MKV files that plays and another report on one that does not and post it here. (Use View->Text to generate a full report that can be copied and pasted in your post.) Also post the make and model of the TV so someone can attempt to download the manual and find out what the TV plays. -
right guy's if i've done this right e goes, this is "The Forest" which won;t play correctly on my Panasonic VIERA TX-48AX630B either through Serviio or USB from the drive

I'm not seeing anything. Maybe someone else will do better.
However, from what the manual says you will have to convert DTS audio to a different format use an MP4 container.
Your TV's manual says this: -
Highly likely the audio is the issue. I have a Panasonic VT50 and Zootopia (remuxed to .mkv) and other videos won't play via DLNA "Audio format not supported" ). Never bothered to check what the audio type was since I just ran the same files through my WDTV (through DLNA) and they work fine.
@rustyrankin
Remuxing to MP4 probably won't help because as usually_quiet's pic shows, .mkv supports more audio file formats than .mp4 and it's probably the audio that's the issue.
Ultimately the best solution to this type of question: "My xxx brand's HDTV media player doesn't play xxx file." is to use a standalone media player or HTPC as built in media players are very limited in theer file support.
Another major plus to using an external palyer is that the video settings (at least on my VT50) are very limited with DLNA and the built in player. Fine for casual viewing, but the THX settings or even better tweaked settings through HDMI are much better. -
Use MKVMergeGUI to make a copy but unticking all the unnecessary audio tracks and subtitles so you end up with Video - 1 x audio - 1 x subtitle plus chapters. No processing so no loss of quality. If the problem is the DTS audio run the new file through either Popcorn Audio Convertor or MKV2AC3 , both these programs will change the DTS track to AC3 in situ only processing the audio. Try this and see if removing all the unnecessary stuff in your original file improves thing
Your MediaInfo file should then look like this

DTS core is better left alone since it's already a lossy format, and MP4 will not support it stick with MKV & mkvtoolnix, mux out the unnecessary audio and subtitles
-
The subs aren't useful in their current state. They could all be removed. The TV won't display PGS subtitles multiplexed in with the audio and video. It wants subtitles in MicroDVD, SubRip, or TMPlayer format (.srt, .sub or .txt), as files with the same name as the video (other than extension) placed in the same folder with the video they belong to.

hi guy's thanks for all the replies, i've tried all suggested but still get the same problem, i've just run a movie i converted to mp4 through mediainfo results below, the only difference i can see is the Format_Settings_RefFrames/String : 2 frames has changed to 3 frames. the same move info is posted above "the forest" could this be the problem?

is that bad then?
ok because MKV's are hit an miss on my Panasonic TV when the ISO is converted to MKV what's my best option,
is there an ISO to MP4 converter with out quality loss?
whats my best option -
According to the description, MkvToMp4 will use the original video from an MKV if it is H.264 and convert non-compliant audio. I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it does a good job converting from DTS to AAC.
I don't know of any good ISO to MP4 converters.
If the video is the source of your playback problem, putting it in an MP4 container probably won't help. If the original DTS audio is the source of your playback problem, then converting it to AAC or AC3 will make you MKVs playable.
[Edit]I suppose you could try mounting the ISO using DVDFab Virtual Drive or similar software and then use MkvToMp4 on the mts file containing the movie.Last edited by usually_quiet; 2nd Jul 2016 at 13:57.

every MKV to mp4 i've done they all work in mp4 format, i just want the best quality i can get
don;t think the DTS is the problem, i've converted to AAC and it still doesn't play, the movie has pix-elation and stutters -
I assume you used the Brorsoft product you mentioned for the conversion you posted. It appears to re-encode both the video and the audio, which means it is not the lossless solution you keep asking for and that your TV likely won't play all Blu-ray spec H.264 video, regardless of the container.
BTW Brorsoft it is another trade name owned by Aimersoft, a notorious spammer and crapware outfit that uses ffmpeg and other freeware in many of its products without adhering to the licensing requirements. http://www.macworld.com/article/1153685/web-apps/speaking-spammers.htmlLast edited by usually_quiet; 2nd Jul 2016 at 14:44.

What about XMedia Recode? I know that you could take your .mkv file (you would need to rip the .iso to .mkv) and copy the video and audio, remuxing it into an .mp4 container.

right think i need to sit down and try one thing at a time instead of jumping from one thing to another, i've tried Mezzmo, Serviio, TVmobili, with joy real joy, some will play some won't.
Going to stick with Serviio as i prefer that and running one MKV file through different prog's until i find a working solution, if there is one!!!!! -
I would have a mod change the title. If you want the best quality, don't touch it. Audio is one thing, but encoding the video is a whole different ball game. You keep asking the same question but the title is incorrect
"without quality loss" = untouched video = Full BD / Remux -
right sticking with MakeMKV i've taken the Audio and converted to AAC Audio and taken the sub's out and it still pix-elates and sticks
anybody see anything?

Yes. The version of "The Forest" which you say played correctly is not the original. The video as well as the audio were re-encoded. Since the video was re-encoded, there was some quality loss. Maybe there was not enough quality loss to be obvious, but it isn't possible to re-encode to lossy AVC without some loss of quality.
It should now be abundantly clear that your TV does not play all AVC Blu-ray-spec video correctly. Maybe there are some sections in the original where the video's bitrate is too high, or maybe the original used AVC encoding options which your TV doesn't like. The solution is obvious. Those that don't play need to be re-encoded (video, audio, or both), or you need to play them with something other than the TV. -

i agree,
i've turned on transcoding on Serviio which now plays all the movies, the info says the MKV files are MPEG2-TS files, i take it there will be loss in quality when Serviio transcodes?
but at least they play -
