I have films that are nearly 2 hours long and fit on a 4.7 dvdr, but I have others that are only 1 hour 35 mins, i know there are dvd9 and dvd5 dvd, whats the difference besides size? Why wont all the films fit? HELP PLEASE!

A DVD-R is 4,7GB, while a pressed DVD (movie) is 9.4GB. The reason for this is that a pressed DVD can have two layers, while a DVD-R has only one layer.

i know, but why can a 2 hour film on a single layer dvd fit on a dvdr 4.7 but a 1 hour 35mins film on a dual layer disk wont fit?
