    Hi,

I wonder if anyone knows why the version of Debut Video I have won't detect a capture device I have connected to my laptop?. When I click on "Device" it says "No valid capture card could be found", this is despite a USB capture device being connected. I have tried Debut before and have had no problems in using the device capture to capture from an external video source such as a VHS player, using the same device. But now, for some reason, it won't detect the USB device connected. I have tried other software such as VLC and Virtualdub and it seems to detect the device and displays whatever is playing through from the VHS tape, which means the USB capture device is working fine. Maybe there's a limited version I have that won't allow that feature to work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The software is typically written to recognize various types of capture devices. But software typically doesn't work with all of the various capture devices. It's possible it simply won't work with that type of device, or the device is newer than the software and the software simply doesn't know what it is (which may or may not be solved with a software update).

I you want/need specifics, contact Debut Video.
