New MPlayerX v1.1.3 has 16/45 positives at VirusTotal

I posted this at the download site but thought it should be pointed out here where it will get more attention. The previous version had no malware.

New v1.1.3 has 16/45 positives at VirusTotal

Well this is curious because the 'official' DMG file available from both https://mpx.codeplex.com/releases/view/621144 and http://mplayerx.org/download.html, which redirects to https://mpx.codeplex.com/downloads/get/1566333, is a 1.8MB INSTALLER. So that makes it even worse because the installer has the potential to install anything. And if you check for updates from the app, I have no doubt that this is the version that will get installed.

The file you have on the site is 38.8MB, which is about what the past 3 versions that I have have been, and contains the full app.

I am very upset about this. A Google search reveals that past versions of the installer have installed malware:

I don't know where I got the full app DMGs in the past. I thought it was from the official dev site but maybe not. Where exactly did you get this full app?

Thank you Baldrick. You are a gentleman. I shall bookmark this for future reference. I thought SourceForge was the only source of the builds. What happened that the main site links to CodePlex?
