    Hi

I am converting old music dvds with PCM 2.0 and 5.1 tracks on my mac using handbrake. Should i be setting the audio to AAC (320?), passthrough or AC3 for best results? Not really concerned about file size.

    Cheers!

Auto passthrough is best. You cant get better sound with any recompression but you can save space, what isnt your problem.

I'd get rid of the 5.1 all together. That fake, afterthought 5.1 crap is just a space-wasting gimmick.

I have a DVD with both 5.1 and LPCM streams.
I ripped the DVD to my computer using DVD fab.
Then in Handbrake, I opened the VIDEO_TS folder.
This is how I normally process DVDs.

In Handbrake, I selected "Auto passthrough" for the 2-channel LPCM stream. But the file turned out to have 48khz at 224kbits. This is certainly not LPCM quality.

What do I do to to encode full PCM (or as close as I can get) in Handbrake.

    (P.S. I usually output to MP4 container)
