  1. Hi I'd like to convert a Disney Aladdin episode link below for my daughter's birthday into VDub as she likes playing with the controls backwards and forwards with her friends etc,. but keep getting a message "Couldn't locate decompressor for MP42"....

I must be doing something wrong somewhere so wondered if others might be able to convert it and especially how they did it for the future.

    Win7 Home edition 64bit.

    Thanks in advance....

Try ffdshow and that should be able to open the VFW decoder for VirtualDub. There is a 64bit version if you are using VD 64bit.

Other members may have other solutions.

    And welcome to our forums.

Thank you !! Avidemux did the trick nicely and the girls want me off the computer asap as there were great shrieks of delight when it worked !! Peace at last !

Will try VDub later to see if it works....

Thanks yes VDub works fine and great to see it working properly again.

I think there seems to be more control with the VDub slider along the bottom bar also the single pane opens wider too. All of which is useful for looking at family videos and holidays too as the girls and family are in hysterics, especially one of a video taken a week ago played in fast reverse of an outdoor barbeque all the food appearing back on the table at the end !

Grateful thanks again everyone my daughter, her friends and the family still having a great time even if wasn't quite what the makers of VDub perhaps originally intended !!!

  10. My pleasure....

One long standing problem is that with just the single adjustable screen or pane option only, you're always going to be limited to roughly a square box shape.

But I've always wished as with the old VDub that there could also be a normal width rectangular screen as well, as in say You Tube screens then you could also play ordinary videos using VDub as an ordinary video player as well. The way we all did this afternoon when watching the reverse video of the barbeque.

Be great if it were possible .... ?

  11. Square box shape? I dont understand. It will help if you post a screenshot of that.
I always use "output pane only" without problem.
    Check this:
disable (if it is enabled) View->Pane layout->Auto-size panes
change display option Aspect Ratio, also select Zoom that fits your display

Or are you asking about letterboxing / adding black pillars like youtube?

  13. I don't like current display panes. So yes I may change something like that.
