I created a simple DVD with one menu that contains background and three text fields, one of which is linked to the movie.

When I put the DVD in the player, the menu comes up, but only one strip of the background shows at the top of the screen... the rest is missing and is transparent. The one text field that is linked shows in the middle of the screen shows but the rest do not.

Upon closer review, it almost appears that he background stops precisely where the first text field begins. Strange... I did make that text field a custom color.. perhaps something is wrong with it. To be honest, I don't feel like re-encoding the hole movie again. If I created a DVD folder on the hard drive, is there a way to change the menu without re-encoding from the source MPEG again?

DVDit... dragged a background to "first play" on the menu display, which causes menu1 to be created and viewed in the preview area. Dropped a font type from the font selection box to the preview area, and changed the text to my title, dropped another text field and changed it to the movie name, dropped another text field and changed it to the star's name. Then I dragged the movie from the theme box to the to the menu preview screen and dropped it onto the movie name text object, which automatically adds the movie to the project and creates the link from that text object to the movie.

The project was created as a "DVD-Compliant" "4:3 aspect" movie. I went to the video and audio settings screen and changed the audio to dolby 192 Stero and set the video bit-rate to 6.4Mbps so that every thing would fit on the one DVD.

That's it, then I burned the disk.

  4. Have you created other DVD's with this method or is this your 1st one as you don't say? Coz the only thing I can think of is that your standalone player is somehow incompatible with the way DvDit authors DVD's. Not a real answer but a couple if ideas here - have you tried a friends DVD player and have you tried alternative authoring software such as spruce up?
