Got this nice, sleek looking player from Sam's Club for $129. It didn't recognize a VCD I burned, but in all fairness, I think it was the very cheap CompUSA CDR that I burned it on. It played my DVD+RW movies with no problem, no adjustments, and no special burn settings. When I tried to play my MP3 CD+RW, after several minutes, the audio would stop... but the player still showed a moving counter. If I press pause and play, it would continue playing the rest of the song. The song selection menu was not a very wide display.. it cut off the song names pretty short and there was no "page-down" key, so I had to scroll through 134 songs one at a time. When a song was playing, the song name or track number did not appear...

    This player:
VCD movies = probably picky about cheap media
    DVD+RW movies = fabulous
    MP3 CD-RW = the reason I returned it
