Is it possible to stream to a VLC player or ffplay from an rtmp encoder?
What I mean to do is to send a a very simple live camera feed from A to B, both on the same network. At A I have camera and an rtmp encoder (tricaster). At B I have a Windows notebook.
Can this be done without a streaming server?

Give us some information about the rtmp encoder tricaster.
How do you access the stream from it? -
I'm used to streaming from the Tricaster to streaming servers like Wowza, or services like Youtube, Ustream, etc.
It's configureable through the internal interface, where I can set a streaming address (such as rtmp://address/publishing_point), a stream ID (such as "live_newscast"), and login/passwd settings. -
I think you have to use a server or something like livestreamer to restream it to VLC Media Player.
Search also in the vlc forums: https://forum.videolan.org/search.php
