I don't know what to call this phenomena but it's known to everyone I think, maybe.

Your cursor (an arrow in this instance) starts moving very slowly and at the same time leaves its image where it has been.

So that a string of arrows appears across the screen. Following the cursor wherever it goes. Like the screen doesn't seem to get refreshed after a cursor movement.

What is going on? Is there a fix?

My son plays Roblox and it used to work okay: so that looks like his old machine, running XP, at least was good enough.

    But now it does that.

Roblox is a web based game of course. Is it a fault at the web end? Or down on his machine? Does anyone know exactly what is happening when this happens? What can I do for him short of going out and buying him a new machine?

There's gigabytes of disk space. CPU usage is not 100%. Mem usage is not 100%. As best I can make out from Task Manager.

cursor 'trails' can be turned off in the control panel, or touch pad control
along with speed of the cursor movement

    sounds like something changed 'there'

thats the first place i would look

I'll take a look but I strongly doubt that's the problem. It only happens in Roblox. Game graphics. Control Panel cursor controls effect what the cursor does all the time, anywhere, don't they?

I would suspect your video card drivers and software. Maybe update them or replace the video card if it's a bit old.
Video card drivers and associated video card software has been getting much larger in the past few years. ATI software is now a huge download.
    I suspect others are similar.

Maybe start over? Uninstall your video card software and reinstall it with the latest version. Worth trying if all else fails.
