    It seems almost every DVD I play (I use VLC) gives codec stats for audio as 192k.

    Not sure what is typical (most-used audio bitrate for plain ol' DVD).

  2. 192 is typical for stereo. DD5.1 is usually 448.

  3. Yes, typically AC-3 (Dolby Digital) is 192kbps for 2.0 and either 384kbps or 448kbps for 5.1. Some DVDs also have DTS 5.1 which I've found is either 1,509kbps or 755kbps.
