  1. Windows 7
    Computer Asus U47A

I keep getting kicked off internet (all other devices are online). I tried resetting modem/router. It will kick me off and go to blue screen where it start dumping information and then restarts. I read online to go to Device Manager to uninstall the wireless card, reboot and have it reinstall. It will work for awhile then do the same thing. Is my hardware dying or some other issue? Windows updates up to date and all drivers up to date.

  2. I just read a news article about a MS update that causes problems (blue screens) with win 7 and asus mother boards. Asus has a fix so see if that helps.

  3. It is not going to blue screen as much. Now it shows internet as yellow "limited access" which still wont let me connect. I have to restart the computer every single time.

I uninstalled and rebooted and then reinstalled the device. I check the device manager and all updates are current and network adapter Intel Centrino N-2230 is enabled and working properly. What could be the issue?

  4. Uninstall the old driver first, then update the driver from this link

    for win 7 32bit
    https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25223/eng/Wireless_18.12.1_%20Ds32.exe

    for win 7 64bit
    https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25223/eng/Wireless_18.12.1_%20Ds64.exe

    good luck!

  5. Driver 18.2.1 says it is only for version 7265 and 7260 and 3165 and 3160. I have Centrino N-2230 in Windows 7 64 bit. Look like driver 15.17.0.1 is the newest. That's the one I currently have.

    Am I misinterpreting something?

    Its not 18.2.1, it's 18.12.1

  7. Thanks for catching that Anana. Why does it say driver 17.1.1504.0516 is the latest driver, not 18.12.1
Search by Download Type = "driver" and OS = "Windows 7 64-bit"

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/66889/Intel-Centrino-Wireless-N-2230-Single-Band

Are you searching by a different way?

  8. Like i said before, i don't know about that, maybe 17.1.1504.0516 support more old adapter type & 18.12.1 or later maybe stop support the old adapter type...

  9. For some reason the 18.12.1 won't let me install. When I click on it, it brings up the hourglass screen like it is trying to do something, but goes away. I tried rebooting but still cannot install it.

  10. Make sure to install the right driver for your windows. If win 7 32bit, install the 32bit version. If win 7 64bit, install the 64bit version.
Sometimes the install process need more time, depend on your cpu & hdd/ssd. Just wait until the install process complete.

  11. don't forget to uninstall the previous adapter driver before install it.

  12. I can only install this one, which is strange because I do a reboot and after my computer restarts, when I go to my Device Manager, Network Adapters and go to Properties and select the Driver tab, it shows the driver as version 15.17.0.1 with driver date 4/30/15. That doesn't match the driver 17.1.1504.0516 with date 8/28/15
Is it not reflecting the correct driver or is it just not installing?

It will download this one, but won't install when I click on it.

When I got to "uninstall program" to remove the previous adapter driver, there is no UNINSTALL button, only CHANGE or REPAIR. Is that normal?

  13. Open device manager, in network adapters, uninstall the previous driver

  14. And why it is when I hit "update driver" from the Device Manager, it is not locating the 18.12.1 driver for me? It's showing my old 15.17.0.1 (which completely does not match the 17.1.1504.0516 version I installed) as the newest version.

This one installs. However, it is not installing a driver 17.1.1504.0516. It installs a driver 15.17.0.1 from that exe.file. Confused.

don't worry, it's normal, because 15.17.0.1 is the driver version. 17.1.1504.0516 is the driver package build version... Just look at the intel site.

    Btw, is it working?
I'm on the Intel website. So do you mean because the file says it is version 17.1.1504.0516, it doesn't mean that the driver is 17.1.1504.0516. It's just a naming convention?

I can't get version 18.12.1 or 18.12.0 exe files, which are newer based on a higher number than the version 17.1.1504.0516, but older dates, to install.

  20. anana, it was working fine after the driver update. Recently the internet connection started going to "limited access" which resulted in me not being able to get online. If I go to device manager and disable and enable it, then it will work. It seems intermittent. Other devices connect fine. Does this sound normal?

  21. It depends on your ISP or router settings or firewall application...
    I don't know for sure.
