I don't even know how to explain it
Take a look at this youtube video to understand what's happening.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btOGvzSnuq8

Basically the video jumps back, and jumps forward and it looks really terrible.
Sometimes these 'cuts' happen very frequently (as shown on the video) and sometimes less frequently. If I play the tapes directly to a TV it's works, so this is a digital issue.

I thought the digitizer was broken so I bought another one.. same issues there.
So with this new digitizer I tried installing it on another computer along with VirtualDub, but same problems.
    Connections:
VCR -> Composite cable -> Digitizer -> USB -> Computer

I'm thinking that virtualdub could be causing these problems. Or maybe something is wrong with the capture drivers?

Help very much appriciated, though I understand that it might be a very advanced problem.

    It's actually 50fps but I faked it to 60.
When I capture the footage it's interlaced, but afterwards I de-interlace to 50fps because it looks so smooth and nice

If you are doing uncompressed or lossless captures with VDub....you may want to try doing it in DScaler. I've tried several times with VDub and it has never worked out for me.....I must have some kind of mental block with VDub. Editing, replacing audio, frameserving....no problems.....capturing....never got it to work right.
I have an old, slow Windows XP computer and have no problems capturing via my Hauppauge USB Live|2.

I tried out Dscaler and it looks like a great program... I'll check it out some more, but I'll probably use it in the future when capturing!

However the problem still exist, frames jump around like crazy... . Something is wrong with either the card(s) or the computer(s)..
Tomorrow I'll try capturing with a third computer to see if it's any better :/

I personally would never think of capturing anything other than the framerate of the original tape but....I've never tried it so I don't know. Having said that, you may also want to look into what else is going on in your computer while you are capturing.
    Just a thought.

To clarify: Whenever I'm capturing footage I'm doing it in its native resolution, in this case 25fps interlaced. But when working on it later I de-interlace to 50fps progressive. The youtube-video is actually at 50fps (de-interlaced footage) but it's up-scaled to 60 because I captured it with ShadowPlay

I've done some more testing and found out that just looking at the feed from the capture device causes this problem.. For example when looking at the feed through Skype for example it's still very bad.
Either both capture devices broken, or something is screwed up with both computers.. I still haven't tested it on a third computer but I will...

Tried that, but with no luck.
I also tried unplugging the audio cables from the capture card.

    Tried that doesn't work.

    ____

Recently I also upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, reinstalled the drivers for one of the two capture cards but same problems.

I tried soldering a variable resistor 0-450 ohms to the composite video cable, but it didn't help..

As I've stated before, the two capture card are of the same brand (Plexgear) it's probably something messed up with their hardware....

I ended up buying another capture card from Ebay called Hauppauge Live-2 USB. It works alot better.

Stay away from Plexgear capture cards, especially Plexgear MovieSaver 600!
