While I was trying to sync subtitles to an mkv file, I found that each time I played the same file, audio seemed to shift a few seconds. So the same sentence was spoken at 01:06:24, the next at 01:06:22 and then again at 01:06:26.
That makes it impossible to sync subtitles and audio. At first it seemed audio was off only in Subtitle Workshop 2.51, but I later found it also happened in MPC-HC (Nightly) 1.7.5.195 (0d2d2d2), with FFmpeg compiler MinGW-w64 GCC 4.8.2.
How is it possible that audio is not reproduced in exactly the same manner each time? I tried looking up this phenomenon on this forum, but I didn't find it, which may have to do with the fact I didn't use the right search terms.
Anybody any idea?

Does it only happen to this mkv?
No audio sync issues?
Try also play with vlc media player and see if you get similar issue.
And try sync it with subtitle edit. -
Thanks, Baldrick.
There are no audio sync issues, so it seems that the movie is sometimes a bit faster, and sometimes slower. I'll try and see what happens with VLC. It happens with a few more movies (only mkv). It's not a big deal, I'm just curious what can cause the phenomenon.
I'll also try and use Subtitle Edit to see what happens.
