No.
Have you checked the running time in dvd? So it's not several hours with some black screen at the end. -
what do i check in the dvd, as its vob files
Ok I have now looked at dvd it made and there is 4 vob files from VTS_01_1 to VTS_01_4 all are 1GB each then the last vob VTS_01_5 is just 113MB
so VTS_01_1 says 21 min 40 sec
VTS_01_2 is 23 min 29 sec
VTS_01_3 is 29 min 09 sec
VTS_01_4 is 22 min 40 sec
VTS_01_5 is 2min 07 sec
I honestly cannot see why it took 3 hours 26 mins to convert hope someone can help on this also its gone from a 1.87 GB file to a 4GB 113mb fileLast edited by loa909; 24th Apr 2016 at 09:02. Reason: explain better

Sorry. But is it necessary to start a new thread for this ?
Why not just continue here ?

And just be grateful it only took 3hrs + for the conversion.Last edited by DB83; 24th Apr 2016 at 09:03. Reason: cross-reference added.

perhaps because your cpu (amd athlon 2200) has only 1 core at 1.8 ghz.

Well simple reason why as no one replied to that post anymore so hence this new post
so its normal then for a 1.87GB file to be made into a 4Gb 113Mb file then and took 3 hours well no good using AVS2DVD if its taken all that time
so can anyone recommend a convert to dvd program which wont take 3 hours -
^^ That's no excuse. And no replies in a 24 hour period is even less excuse.
There are potential reasons for the lack of replies which I will not go in to here. Neither will I explain this comment. -
The simple answer is that you have been given a number of good answers that you do not want to hear.
AVStoDVD is not a 'slow' encoder. There are no miracle fast ones. On a one core 1.8GHz computer you are not going to get fast encodes. Even in one pass target bitrate mode it'll be slow and the quality of that settings stinks.
There is only one answer for getting faster encodes. Buy a faster computer. -

Your profile shows this:
Computer Details
winxp sp2
amd athlon 2.200
17gb+80gb+200GB
768mb
You probably put that in when you joined the site in 2007. If you are still using the same computer, then this explains the long encoding times.
An hour and a half long movie would take a very short time to encode with my i5 3570k in AVStoDVD. -

If I have identified that dual core cpu correctly, it was released in the 2nd quarter of 2009. So its very nearly seven years old now. And even at release, it wasn't a speed demon. My cpu is four years old, and roughly three times faster in common benchmarks.
You shouldn't expect great increases in speed. AVStoDVD is the best at what it does when using the HC encoder, but you might speed things up using ffmpeg as the encoder within AVStoDVD instead.
Or you could try ConvertXtoDVD. It is generally thought to be faster, and still produces reasonably good quality output. ConvertX isn't free, and you would be better served by getting a newer computer rather than spending money on that program. -
Yes you are correct. but a new PC is a bit too much for my finances at the moment. but will of course try what you said.
I just like to apologies to DB83 as he is right by saying why make a 2nd thread as 24 hours isnt long to wait. its just that my niece wanted some holiday clips done fast. but thats no excuse for me making a new thread. i will be careful next time.
