  1. Hello,

I've been using AmarecTV 2.31 for capturing VHS tapes from my VCR with a PINNACLE PCI VIDEO CAPTURE CARD / FIREWIRE 1394 IEEE / 51015777 / BENDINO V1.0A
My only problem was the audio being always ahead of the video by anywhere from 0.5 to 3 or 4 seconds.
I found version 3.1 and installed it hoping that the problem was resolved. However, now I'm getting this error when I exit the configuration.
It says "No more data is on the tape" but the tape is at the beginning.

See also attached ini files for version 3.1 (current) and my ini file when I was using version 2.31 (was working fine). They need to be renamed "AmaRecTV.ini" and placed in the installation folder if anybody wants to test them).
    Has anybody experienced this ?

I don't get why AmaRecTV would ever say anything about a tape, unless you were using Firewire controls.

I'm capturing from a VCR not from a DV Camcorder. WinDV won't work with a VCR, it doesn't recognice it ...
I get: "Error: Can't find DV output pin"

I have rebooted and the problem is gone (duh ..).
However the audio sync problem remains.

According to your first post you wrote "PINNACLE PCI VIDEO CAPTURE CARD / FIREWIRE 1394 IEEE" I assumed you have a DV capture device, Sorry if I misunderstood you.

Yes this is my card . I use it also to capture mini DV tapes via firewire from the camera but in this case I'm trying to digitize VHS tapes from the VCR. Thanks anyway.

  8. Have you got the 'Match the start timing of the audio with a video' setting ticked on the 'Advanced' tab?

You don't say which codec you're capturing to. If it's something like X264vfw then your computer may be struggling with your settings and you may get better results lowering the quality settings? (Task Manager/Resource Monitor can often help to diagnose this.)

Is the sound always out of sync by the same amount? If so you could probably easily adjust in VirtualDub (or any number of other Muxers/Encoders/other utils)

    Yes I do.

I'm using Lagarith loseless codec to get decent quality before editing. My PC has more than enough power anyways.

Yes it's always about 1.5 sec or so.

    Now I noticed the following:
While recording, I already see in the monitor that the sound is ahead of the image. I finish the capture and when the output file is played with MPC the sound is also ahead by the same amount. However, if I open the file in VirtualDub and play it as is, the sound is now perfectly in sync ... but then when I save it from there, it goes again out of sync but with less discrepancy. It doesn't make sense, or does it ?
