I picked up a capture USB dongle with composite and S-Video port and the software that came with it is all in Chinese. I can't do Chinese. The instruction manual PDF is in English and makes mention of Video Studio and had serial number but I don't think I paid for the right to Video StudioI doubt the included serial number works anyway.
I checked the device manager, the dongle shows up as web cam so it looks like a common generic type device. I just wanted to capture off a few tapes, those were old video recorded back when video camera were bigger than laptop and typically did only 240i resolution.
So what's good for quick capture? Or should I get something different for capturing video?
