  1. So I have a relatively small (22mb) AVI file that came out of a GeoVision CCTV surveillance system. At first it would not play in any player and VLC reported that the codec is GAVC. I have encountered GeoVision problems before and I went and got their codecs installed and the file now plays fine in Windows Media Player, but nowhere else.

What I need to do is get this file converted into a common file so that it can be imported into video editing software for editing and distribution.

Most of the converters I have tried cant touch this file and I am really pulling my hair out here... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. If WMP can play it you should be able to use DirectShowSource() in an AviSynth script. Then use any editor/encoder that can deal with AviSynth. Like VirtualDub, MeGUI, etc.
