I recently got hired to be the videographer for a dance recital put on by a prestigous dance school. I'm planning to make dvd's as well as VHS tapes for the families that want them. What I want the feedback on is this: The whole presentation will be three hours long. Should I get double-sided blank DVD-R's or 2 single-sided discs? I want the video to look as good as I can, so I figure about 90 minutes on each side--or on each of 2 discs, if I decide to go that route. Anyone had any info on using double-sided disc that they can share with me?

I would have thought 90 mins a side is a good compromise for a quality (decent bitrate) if your source is DV tapes. The obvious problem with double sided discs is in the handling of them.
