There are a few DVD's I would like to buy, but, (various titles from PBS/BBC) while they were shewn on PBS over the years, pbs never offered them for sale on their site, (or offered pal/reg 2, with warnings).

I rip my dvd's to iso for viewing with my 'Argosy' media player. (yeah, I know, its ooold!), Argosy has pal output, tv (Olevia, yeah, its ooold too!), has pal input (?) setting in setup. Is this gonna work for me?? (anydvd rips)

The Olevia is getting old, I am using it as a monitor with a cable box & hdmi for argosy. (the colors/images are better than most all tv's I have looked at as replacements, (including expensive ones too) so I keep using it) (ditto the Argosy, simple controls, does what I want perfectly. I have a Dune & a WD smp live, dislike both, use the dune with "4/3 letterboxed" vids only)

It should not be any problem with such a media player.

You might wish to confirm that the PAL input on the tv is PAL-B/I ie 625 lines/25fps

There is a PAL-M system which uses the PAL color-carrier but is NTSC for lines and frame-rate

Hmmm, , , does not specify, just 'pal' input. Maybe I will risk the $ on a (the lowest price video I'm interested in) dvd & see what gives, , ,

There is enough ibfo in the OP. Unless PBS broadcasts elsewhere.

Ultimately, yes, the only way to find out is to rip a PAL dvd and test it in your system. I was merely point out that there are other flavours of PAL.
