    Hello,

I'm looking for a solution to change between multiple videos in real time, on a second display via tv-out, without seeing the cursor or other element besides the video.

It should work like this: there will be a long video playing by default that lasts around one hour and must not be paused. At times, i will manually replace it with other videos, less than a minute each, during which the long video should not pause, even though it won't be seen.

I'm guessing Processing is a good way of doing it, but unfortunately, i have zero programming experience, so i'm looking for an easier way.
If you have any idea, or know any software that might do this, please let me know.
    Thanks.

Do a google search on "live video software switcher". That'll at least get you in the ballpark.

Using a standard playlist would have been an easy and free alternative, until you said the part about the original long clip not stopping even when (hidden) in the background.

  3. If you're running the video on a second monitor hooked up to a PC, you should be able to do it using MPC-HC running fullscreen on the second display. I run multiple instances of MPC-HC fullscreen all the time (mainly for comparing quality) and switch between them by using the taskbar buttons on the first display. For two instances it just requires clicking one of the player's taskbar buttons to minimise it and again to put it back in fullscreen mode. When it's minimised the second video is left running fullscreen. The process is quite seamless for me and all I see on the TV is the video changing. Because one of the videos will be constantly running though, you'll need to have enough decoding power for at least two, although depending on your video card MPC-HC could use the GPU to decode one video and the CPU to decode the other. Decoding power aside, I can usually run four instances of MPC-HC simultaneously, but after that it can start to get funky. Either the video card runs out of memory or the renderer doesn't like it. I'm not sure.

You could use the portable version of MPC-HC and save it to a couple of locations. They can each use individual settings so for the video that needs to run constantly you could disable most of the mouse and keyboard shortcuts to make it less likely you'll accidentally pause or minimise the wrong video, and for the second you could use a keyboard shortcut to jump from one video to the next, although one problem there is it might require the player to be in the foreground before you can tell it to skip to the next video with a keyboard shortcut. There's apps for using a smartphone as a remote control via bluetooth, or you could be probably use a dedicated remote, so if it's a problem you might be able to get around it that way. You might also be able to configure MPC-HC so you can control it via the media keys on a keyboard while it's minimised. I haven't tried any of them myself, as for me a mouse it fine.
