  1. My apologies if this has been asked/answered before.

I'd like to edit and convert my DVDs but would prefer to keep the AC3 audio. With Handbrake, I can convert and keep the AC3 but cannot properly edit. The best editor is avidemux but it won't allow AC3.

Is there any way of doing what I want? Thanks for any advice offered.

  3. Hi hech54. Yes, I can bring up those properties too but try converting to mp4 with audio set to 'copy' and this is what happens:

Convert to MKV then. Some equipment doesn't like AC3 in MP4 files.

ac3 was not part of the original mp4 technical spec. it was "added" by some other group later. afaik it was never made "official". avidemux may be just following the specs.

  6. Thanks guys, especially Kerry56. It never crossed my mind to choose MKV as the output format. Works a treat...
