Hi to all,
I'm using a Sony Digital Handycam as analog-to-digital passthrough to acquire my old HI8 videotape. I already acquired my DV videos without problem. With the analog-to-digital passthrough I have some problems because on the bottom lines of the video it seems that the video is like folded (see attached file). I use KDEnlive to acquire le movie. Settings are DV-RAW (work well with DV format). Do someone have an Idea what could it be?
Regards
Gian Carlo

Pretty common head switch noise.

Not just common: universal on analog taped video. Even with pro formats (though they're much better because of tighter tolerances). Digital tape gets around this with packet timing adjustments and error detection & correction (electromagnetically it is still occurring on a low level)
