    Windows 10.
I get this error message on windows 8.1 and cedocida installs anyway. It is just a warning saying that it is untrusted. You can check that it is installed in virtualdub in Video / Compression... . There should be a list of codecs. To avoid problems you should use 32 bits everything. 32 bits avisynth, virtualdub and codecs. So in your case cedocida_dv_only.inf , right click, install. Do not use the x64 folder. To open an avs in virtualdub 32bits you will most likely need a microsoft dll msvcr71.dll.

Just concerned about the sound right now...

I tried my setup again, and it doesn't play/recorder over the right speaker.

Long story short, the earphone jack (on my camcorder) which I use for audio-out is monaural. The A/V jack is also monaural. So I can only output in mono with this camcorder. *sigh*

I had the same problem with my other camcorder and I thought it was broken; didn't think to read the manual.

What's the problem? All you have to do is capture in mono, or capture in stereo and drop the empty channel.

Would that be the same as stereo sound?

If so, can't I just fix the files I made already? Thanks!

No. If you have a 2-channel setup, the same sound will play to both speakers. With real stereo, the sound in each speaker can differ.

But the point is, your camcorder tapes are probably mono to begin with. They certainly are if the CCD-TRV58 was used to record them. Microphone operation mode: mono.

In that case, you can just fix the sound of the files you already have.

No, they were recorded with an older Sony Camcorder model, which I believe was stereo, because I never heard a problem playing them back on the TV...

I don't know the model number though.

Setting aside all the technical reasons there could be for that, you also never heard the problem with the files:

That's because I was too excited to convert them, and didn't bother to listen to the recording while it converted it. I set it on mute.

I don't understand why the camera came with an A/V cable with Left and Right audio jacks, if there's only Left.

I don't think it did. I'm looking at eBay listings for the CCD-TRV58 and most of them include a 2-wire output cable (yellow for video and black for mono audio).

If you bought it used, the person simply included the wrong cable.
