vlc for ios will not play mkv with ac3 audio

hello and thanks for reading this.
i am using vlc for apple ios. it does not support ac3 audio.
i have a bunch of videos in mkv and perhaps other formats that use ac3.
i need a way to convert the audio from ac3 to some other format.
i do not need to change the video, which looks fine.
so is there a way to quickly just change the audio to another format but not change the video.
not sure where to post this thread so i aplogize for being a newbie.

You can try Popcorn mkv audioconverter. Select the Audio output to AAC. It will not reconvert the video.


You could also use MKV2MP4. It will try change the mkv to mp4 without reconverting the video. You can choose to reconvert the audio to AAC also(it's on by default).

VLC media player isn't good on win, the ios version is not worth to be mentioned.
MPC-BE, MPC-HC, ... for windows
And for iOS - get a better app:
