I like to convert mkv anime files to mp4 with subs using Xvid4PSP 5 to use on my PSVITA but ever since I reinstalled the program on my rebooted PC any anime mkv I convert to mp4 comes with a ridicules file size usually around 900 MB. The large file sizes leave a toll on my PSVITA memory. I've kept converted mp4 files(with a reasonable size) for over a year so I know it hasn't always been like that. Is the problem with XVID4PSP itself or does it lie in one of the codecs? I used the K-lite Full codec pack(most recent version).

MKV to MP4 convert from last year.

I created a similar topic several months ago but I never got a proper answer. Luckily the problem seemed to resolve itself after uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I have no idea what I did to fix it though. I seem to have the same problem again after resetting my PC.

So you like to convert videos which look like they have been created by moviez pirates and been downloaded from filesharing services. I believe I am not allowed to help, according to forum rules.

Apart from that, the Windows Explorer info pane is the least helpful report of details. MediaInfo would have created a much more detailed analysis. And knowing the setup of the program before encoding would have been important too; attributes of the result are not always sufficient to guess the reason.

Yep. Please don't download warez releases, see https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/72386-Forum-rules-Acceptable-Use-Policy-(AUP)?

But we can still discuss the xvid4psp problem.

What encoding settings are you using? Click on the button right to the Video encoding in xvid4psp 5 to change to Encoding mode: 1-pass bitrate and change the Bitrate: to 465kbits.

I believe to remember that there are specific versions of the Xvid codec which don't cooperate well with some tools to achieve a desired bitrate in 2-pass mode. But I don't remember details. The VfW codec and xvid_encraw are different topics.

Thanks alot your directions worked like a charm. By the way changing the bitrate shouldn't effect the video quality right?

Rather the opposite: The less bitrate you allow, the less quality can be preserved. The MPEG-4 Part 2 standard implemented in the Xvid codec always loses some quality; it loses more when it is restricted to lower bitrates.

You can summarize a whole book in only one page of brief notes; but then you will certainly lose some details.
