  1. Hi im new here so forgive my ignorance if this is not the correct forum for this question.
i am trying to connect this monitor
    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-eDJZdvCG0Vk/p_647LVM37V1/Westinghouse-LVM-37w1.html#
    to this DVD player
    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-J5700-Curved-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B00TKOSUDQ

    i have tried..
HDMI to RGB w/audio cable >
    http://www.amazon.com/SODIAL-TM-Audio-Video-Component/dp/B008RHZNY6/ref=sr_1_6?s=elect...ds=hdmi+to+rgb

    HDMI to DVI-D cable >
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-HDTV-1-4-Male-to-DVI-Male-Audio-Video-Cable-with-Lock-Scr...-/252083584757

the monitor has multiple inputs and claims to be HDCP compliant. with the DVI cable i got video but no audio.
there is no audio out on the DVD that i can find a matching connector for on the monitor.

can anyone point me in the correct direction to get this working... feeling really dumb here...

  2. The red, blue and green conectors should go the to one set of video component inputs on your tv, the additional red and white should go to the audio of the same component input. Just follow the colors (and swap the red ones if you get them wrong.)

  3. Use your HDMI to DVI cable plus a coax to analog RCA audio converter like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Portta-PETDTAP-Digital-Optical-Converter/dp/B005DIRI6I/
    and stereo RCA audio cables.

  9. For HDMI output you need to use digital to analog signal converter - i doubt that cable from one side RCA and opposite HDMI can be used to connect anything except some non-standard devices that output on HDMI connector analog signal (this is non standard but i saw some devices using HDMI to deliver non HDMI signal).
Best option for you is to use HDMI to DVI converter - audio should be present on TV unless this TV doesn't support HDMI (it may explain presence of the DVI not HDMI input). You can use amplifier with HDMI input or you can give a chance to some HDMI to VGA (analog) converter (or HDMI to YPbPr) with analog audio output.

  10. Yeah, you need an "active" HDMI to Component cable/adapter to do this, basically you're converting from digital to analog hence the "active" part. The SODIAL cable won't work, it's "passive." The advice above as to other adapters will work fine, or for a "one-step" solution so you don't need a separate audio converter, look for a cable like this: http://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=5670&gclid=CL75uqK7gssCFZCIaQodhNUNbQ

It's the same as all the external boxes that do the same thing. But the electronic components are small enough to fit in the connector housing. Note the USB connector for power.

    Weird statement:
    • Some gaming systems may not function properly with this converter(Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS4 have been tested with incompatibility issues)
Why would there be incapatibility with those systems? If it said "no compatibility issues" with those but issues with others, that would imply it can't decode HDCP, but it also claims to work with "BlueRay" players.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. I'm thinking it may be a translation/language error, no offense to these companies because I myself only speak one language (and sometimes poorly at that!) but I've had more than a few tech products that were imported and the support docs have been ... maybe a bit unclear, in terms of the language. But assuming it passes R/G/B video and analog audio, you'd think it *should* work for all these devices.
