I've tried to export an mkv file but I can't. I go to: Video - Full Processing Mode. Then: Video - Compression. I choose x264vfw - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC coded and I click on Configure.

On Rate Control I choose: Multipass - 1st pass and 5750 bitrate. I choose the route for the stats file and for the Output file (mkv file). On Output mode I choose: File and VFW FourCC:h264.

Well, I click OK and OK again on: Select video compression. And, what should I do now? If I choose File - Save as AVI, I obtain an AVI file. How can I export the mkv file? and how can I use the stats file to do the Multipass -Nth pass?

  3. Set multipass first pass, save, then set multipass n'th pass, and save again. During the first pass the stats file is created, during the second pass the stats file is used to allocate bitrate. The file created in the first pass will contain no video; discard it.

To get an MKV file instead of an AVI file you have to use external muxers.

Or just save as AVI then remux with mkvtoolnix later.
