    I have been converting a bunch of divx and avi files to mpeg and was wondering what was the fastest way to do it, which program works the best and how fast would it go usually i use tmpeg but that thing takes forever and i'm on a 1.7ghz computer and it still takes forever

    You want to encode faster. Is that while maintaining the same quality? How much faster? How much money are you willing to spend on hardware?

    Pretty much while maintaining the same quality not much worse very little at that. As in faster i'd say maybe 1.5 - 2 x faster when converting, and as for hardware it depends on how much your talking and how much it would help
