  1. I noticed that when I was capturing my screen, there was an option to select the estimated file size and change the bitrate, however, I selected edit which then opened the "New Project" gui, cropped and trimmed it, but file size was around 1.8gb, and I ideally want around 1gb, with no options anywhere to reduce the video bitrate. I can only see a Quality setting which offers Good/High/Highest, even dropping the frame rate from 30 to 25 doesn't seem to have reduced the filesize.

I want to maintain the 720p res, but just wanted to reduce the bitrate, but see no way of doing this.. any advice??

    Cheers

Only bitrate and "constant" quality settings will reduce the file size. So if Good wont get you smaller size can't do you do much.

You could just shrink your captures with something else like vidcoder where you can set the output file size under settings.

Or try another screen capture software like Open Broadcaster Software, NCH Debut or Icecream Screen Recorder.

  3. Cheers for that.. having just bought Movavi, I was hoping to do all with it, but will look at the other options, as I can always request a refund.

It seems I can modify the bitrate when the screen is captured, but if I want to do additional editing, when I then try to save it as a media file, I dont get bitrate options and can end up with a much larger file.

    I use Replay Video Capture
    I can set Bit rate
I prefer to capture on the highest quality I can
File size can be reduced later, when changing formats or archiving the video

Can't you make any custom presets?

And if you have bought it then try contact them for help or if they can add bitrate settings that ALL editors/converter should have.
