    I am looking for BETA testers to try a new subtitling app called titlebee: http://www.titlebee.com

    The app lets you create and edit subtitles and export to SRT (text file), MKV (soft-subbed container file), MOV (alpha layer that could be added to Adobe After effects or Final Cut Pro) and even hardsubbed movie files in any format supported by the FFMPEG back-engine.

    Please let me know if you're interested in taking part - Windows 7 and up.

    Thanks Baldrick, just register and download the free bronze version and I'll automatically upgrade you to the gold version which allows you to hardsub movies.

    The installer needs to install the lagarith codec so needs to be run as Admin.

  4. @ mikedun:

    It sounds very nice all the features from Titlebee program. I'm get interested.

    I'm really like to test subtitling programs, because I do timing from videos very often.

    Do you have a portable version from your program? If not yet, can you create a portable version too, please?

    It will be very nice one program that we can use without needing any installation.

    It will be useful to be compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 too!

    Thanks.

    best regards.

    Thanks devil, please go ahead and download the bronze version installer and beta test it. I'll upgrade you to gold automatically.

    Creating a portable version is a great idea. Do you often work on different devices when working on your video projects?

    The app has been tested on Windows 7, 8 and 10, both 32-bit and 64-bit. Works fine on all.

    Email me your impressions, suggestions and bugs to mike@titlebee.com.

    These are serious prices!
    700 dollar for a gold version is quite a lot for a subtitle program i think..

    I really value your feedback jan, the higher price brackets reflect the support packages on offer to professional film makers.

    The bronze version intended for light users and hobbyists is totally free however - so please install it and if you're intending to beta test it I can upgrade you to gold. Please let me know.

    No problem. Give it a spin - the free version should have a lot to offer you if you work with subtitles in any sort of way.

    The important thing now is to get some feedback from videohelpers about its usability.

    Thanks for stepping up exwoll & cyberotter.

    Please let me know what email addresses you registered as so I can put you on the gold package automatically.

    In the meantime please work your way through the user guide located at http://www.titlebee.com/userguide.html

    I'm especially interested to hear about your experiences with multi-track editing, styles & transitions, hardsubbing and cuing/spotting (pressing '[' and ']' keys while the video plays to set start and end times). What works well and what doesn't for you.

    Many thanks again.

    Thanks to the current beta testers for your valuable feedback.

    We have uploaded a tutorial video that shows how to do timing/spotting/cueing for videos:

    Quick note to beta testers - we have updated the installers with the latest bug fixes, including screencaps not showing at the start on Windows 8 and problems rendering Eastern European languages (thanks prijatel!)

    I am still keen to hear from beta testers about:
    1. Changing font styles and transition effects, moving subtitles around on the screen
    2. Adding and removing bookmarks
    3. Hardsubbing movies with your titles (and clipping movie start and end times based on bookmarks)
    4. Cueing/Spotting a movie by pressing play, then ‘[‘ and ‘]’ to start and end subtitle (or ‘/’ and ‘*’ on wider keyboards)
    5. Fixing out-of-sync tracks by highlighting track, then use Alt+mousewheel or Shift+mousewheel to manipulate track)
    6. Arabic, Hebrew and Chinese usage

    Please let me know once you've tried these, and anything else you'd like to see in the program. Please post here or email to mike@titlebee.com - thanks

  16. Hello. I was able to test the program.

    And I had many questions and opinion in relation to its use.

    1) Where can I open and save the subtitles? I often use the SRT format.

    2) There could be a feature to pause the video by clicking directly on the screen where the movie is playing?

    3) The video part is very good! I opened the files you put smoothly. But I had trouble to display the audio portion. Doesn't work. The wave audio form can be zoomed if I want, to see better the beginning and the final of all speeches?

    4) The program only shows the times of the subtitles. It does not show the number of them. Nor your duration. Moreover, the accuracy level is not binding for the timing milliseconds.

    Your program is very good at showing video. Can you make it work just like Sub Station Alpha or VisualSubSync does ? I'm really comfortable using such way of timing just like these programs can do it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Devil, I'm glad you're testing titlebee, I appreciate your efforts.

    1) Drag and drop any SRT file once a video is open to import it. Make sure you change the language to make sure characters render correctly. Click the export button (last button on the panel) to export the SRT file. Here, you can also hardsub subtitles onto the video or create a softsubbed file.

    2) You can pause and start the video with the Space Bar. Clicking and drag the titles on the movie screen - this moves the subtitle to wherever you wish, and right clicking gives you alignment options. Thats why play/pause is not performed with a click.

    3) Right click on the margin and select "Soundwave" to display the wave form. Zoom in and out by holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling your mousewheel up and down.

    4) These features are on their way and will be released in the coming days or weeks.

    Regarding the programs you currently use, there are many good free and commercial programs that use this method and it works really well, but have you tried setting times on titlebee? press Space Bar to start and stop the video and click on '[' and ']' (or '/' and '*' on full keyboards) to start and end subs while the video plays.

    Will you let me know how that works out for you?

    Thanks, Mike

  18. Hi, Mike!

    I'll take your tips and let you know the results on my tests.

    Please, do not forget to make titlebee a portable version, if its possible.

    I really like programs that we do not need to install anything and we can work with it directly and in different PC's , notebooks or other devices.

    Thanks.

    Hi Devil, thanks for testing these features. We can probably make a stripped down version for you (minus the elements that need installation such as hardsubbing).

    I do not have tested your program yet, using your tips. Soon I'll try to do it and let you know all my impressions!

    For me, my main goal is a program that can open smoothly using video + audio wave form in conjuction. I do no need more features than that.

    In ideal world, the "perfect" program for me, to fit my needs, would be a program like Substation Alpha + Titlebee video engine. Titlebee video engine for me is very, very interesting and Substation Alpha lack video features!

    Maybe you could create a "lite" Titlebee version, for very light users like me, who do not need more features like professional version englobe.

    Thanks for all helping!

    Best regards.

    Hi Devil, sorry for the late response. Thanks for letting me know about substation alpha, it does seem like a good program. And your suggestion of a stripped down lite version is a good one too. I'd like you (and other members of the forum) to try a new feature called snap-in time codes, that lets you automatically snap to important parts of your audio:

    Sorry to be late here too! But, I do not forget about testing your programs too! I'll will do it soon!

    I love the way substation alpha does the timing using audio wave form! If you could do it using that your program, working in a similar way ( video bar + audio bar [with wave form ] at the same time, selecting the audio and the corresponding video section, it will be very nice! We can timing very quickly when we have some practice with the program!

    VisualSubSync is another program that that is very nice to work too! It works audio bar + video bar!

    I use a lot other programs too, like Subtitle Edit ( has many features and deal with many, many formats too! I recommend it !!! ) and Subtitle Workshop.

    I do not make karaoke subtitles ( and its particular / specifical features using such way of subtitles ) , but I heard that Aegisub is nice to do it. I do not know if it is stable or the video bar + audio bar works stable and at the same timing, simultaneously.

    I do not have tested yet, but AHD Subtitles Maker sounds a different program and suggests a interesting / different way of marking the times using audio + video bar. But, at the moment I still prefer the way of substation alpha or VisualSubSync do the timing.

    Well, it exist many other good programs out there! I can recommend many others!

    As I'm a amateurs subtitler, I do not have enough money to get a professional programs, like:

    ---> http://www.cavena.com/product/tempo/

    ---> http://www.spotsoftware.nl/

    ---> http://www.softni.com/subtitler.html

    ---> http://www.lemonysubtitler.com/lemony5/features.htm

    But I wonder how many / specifical features such professional program have!

    ---> https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/300473-Subtitling-Professional-Programs-and-Companies

    It is fortunate that there are exist many freeware programs like those I point before that can help us all and do many things for many people who can't afford with expensive professional programs and still can produce / create many good subtitles too!

    And concerning about subtiting size field I'm amazed that exist many ways or specifical needs that we can find in such subject, such opera or other ways or demands in doing or make subtitles:

    ---> http://www.scriptsign.com/whataresupertitles.html

    ---> http://www.nytheatre-wire.com/ct14061t.htm

    Please, do not forget to make a portable version for titlebee if it is possible too!

    Thanks.

    As you can see in the picture above, when I select Soundwave option, the audio bar does not appear.

    Despite that, I'm find some difficulties using only the bottons below the video bar. Play, Pause, Next, etc. In that way it cost more time in doing the marks between the beginning and the end of each speeches. I need to point the mouse cursor too long to Play / Pause.

    I prefer to mark directly on the wave sound bar the beginning and the end of each speeches. And after that, see the results in the correspondent video selection. Doing this I can notice if the times are too long or too short on the video / scenes.

    Zooming the Audio Bar is very necessary to see more precisely the points of each speech!

    If you could make Titlebee working similar substation alpha concerning audio bar like, it will be nice. Did you test the way such program time and mark the speeches? We can navigate very quickly through wave audio bar! I use a rigth / left mouse to mark the points from the speeches.

    Thanks.

    Best regards.

    Hi Devil, I see you're still using an older version of the software. Please uninstall and redownload a new version of the installer from the website. This new version has the soundwave option. To zoom in and out press Ctrl and spin your mousewheel. You do not need to press the button for play/pause, just click space bar to play/pause. Then click '[' and ']' or '/' and '*' to start and end subtitles. Use your mouse to finetune the start and end times. Hope that helps?

    FlashInThePan - the program is out of beta, please download the free bronze version here: http://www.titlebee.com/signup.aspx?page=signup

    Hi Devil, Is it possible titlebee cannot decode the audio? Have you tried with a different file that uses a different codec? Please try another file and let me know. If it doesn't work I'll get someone to talk to you from the development team. Thanks for this.

  29. Hi, Mike!

    I have tested with another movie. No wave sound bar too.

    See the examples below:

    Click image for larger version

Name:	Timing.jpg
Views:	250

    This is above is my example test. An avi file, DivX 5 codec, AC-3 audio. Where must appear the audio bar do not appear nothing. maybe MP3 or Wav should work better concerning audio formats?

    The right processing should be like your example below:

    Click image for larger version

Name:	Timing  2.jpg
Views:	197
Size:	186.4 KB
ID:	36012

    I have tried AVI + MP3 sound and no audio bar too.

    Titlebee can handle with Matroska, MP4, divx, MPEG2 / vob files and some codecs like x264, x265, WMV, AAC, etc?

    Or do we need to convert the audio streams to MP3 ou Wav formats?

    Sub Station Alpha need to process the audio in wav format / 8 bits, for example, to perform the audio timing.

    Thanks.

    Best regards.
