Still a newbie to editing but having downloaded NCH VideoPad Video Editor, still struggling to understand how to keep and save several small series of individual frames for follow up editing as their video tutorial is useless...
Really appreciate any help and guidance thanks![]()

But this: "how to keep and save several small series of individual frames for follow up editing" is not just a simple editing job.

Still a newbie sorry I should have explained it better. It's a golfing video taken from behind of my incorrect swing, so I meant obtaining individual frames to screen capture or download to print out on paper and study at leisure rather than staring at the screen all the time. Avidemux is ok but keeps corrupting....

You can do this in a lots of ways
In VirtualDub for example you can export as "Image sequence". Depending on your video source certains plug-ins may be needed so you could use MediaInfo -> File -> Export -> Text and attach the result to a post to get better help. -
Some software video players can also take snapshots. MPC-HC is good because the video can be navigated one frame at a time with keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl + Right Arrow advances the video one frame at a time. Ctrl + Left Arrow steps backwards one frame at a time. Take snapshots by pressing Alt + i.
One thing to be aware of, in most cases, snapshots use the videos actual resolution and do not take the display aspect ratio into account. Sometimes pictures need to be resized to have the correct aspect ratio.Last edited by usually_quiet; 12th Feb 2016 at 11:32.

Export the section/selection as mjpeg
IIRC...Motion jpeg saves every frame as individual frames just I like a film strip
So it's easy to view and print individual frames
Its not popular because complete video files aka movies are large
But it's very good for what you want -
I decided to go down the VDub route in the end as I've used it before also needing the twin panes display. The original file was mp4 which wasn't accepted by VDub so altered it into .avi ok, but unfortunately must have done something wrong somewhere as all the pics are now slanted 45% sideways and greyed out....?
I added the plug in above so is there something else I should have done first as well or...?
ThanksLast edited by Arcadiune; 14th Feb 2016 at 08:33.
