I have Jaksta Media Recorder full version and VLC that I could use. I normally use Jaksta, but I cannot see how to download LIVE streaming from YouTube (wildlife webcams, not copyrighted material), which is https.
I would consider another paid-for program but only if it's very cheap, I've spent a ludicrous amount on recording software.
I would screen-capture if only I had a spare screen!

Thank you very much, nullacht, I appreciate your advice. I'm going to have to study that, as I don't "do" command line stuff normally so it's going to be a learning curve. Looks like a godsend if I can master it
