MacX DVD Ripper Pro Not Ripping 6CH Audio

Hi All

I am ripping a DVD on my iMAC using MacX DVD Ripper Pro, the DVD rips good including the audio but it only captures 2CH audio and not the 5.1
I do select 6ch in the settings but when check the file using mediainfo and it says 2ch. Yes the DVD is Dolby Digital 5.1

I have attached screenshots of macx and the settings I chose.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong ?

Probably something wrong with the ac3 -> aac conversion. You could make a mp4 with ac3 audio instead or copy/passthrough the ac3 audio.

Or else could you just try rip with macx dvd ripper(remove the encryption and copy the video_Ts folder to your hdd) and then convert the dvd folder to a mp4 with handbrake.

is hand break released on mac ?

I used handbreak and it seems to have worked and did capture the 5.1 (6ch) audio BUT it saves it as m4v (even though I chose Mp4)

Just rename it to mp4. Problem solved.

yeah I did that, seems to have worked... why can't it just be normal and make it mp4 ....

however my original question still remains at large as to why macX doesn't rip 6ch ... if anyone can answer that it would be great

I believe Apple prefers the .m4v extension when it comes to standard video MP4s (as they do a lot of different things with the MP4 container, and like to differentiate between all their different formats).

As for MacX DVD Ripper Pro not ripping the audio the way you want it, yeah, asking the devs about it might be a good idea, since you likely paid for the software (it does say "Pro" ). Alternatively, you could try other rippers, like DVDFab, or rip the DVD to an MKV using MakeMKV (which doesn't re-encode; it just places the contents of the DVD in an MKV container, which you can then re-encode to an MP4 using Handbrake).
