I just worte a HUGE letter to you but ******* windows crashed before I got
    to send it (.

I aint writing that again so here a brief overview:
pressing a key on the keyboard causes a buzz.
moving the mouse is like holding a key.
when ever the HD comes into use I can hear that working away.

So in brief its like I can hear any inputs my devices make.

I unpluged everything from the back and the constant hum (which I am
guessing now is a fan or a hard drive.) still remained.

Also anything that occurs on screen i can hear that as well. for instance
when I minimise something I can hear it go down.

    What my problem aint:
it aint caused by the moniter or any other device, i unpluged them all and
    it was still there.

    what my problem may be:
    A loose connection/broken conection
    ?

If anybody had the same or similar problem than e-mail me/ post it on vcd
    help.

I have under 3hrs to come up with a solution as I want to capture a film!!

    Can you help??

reboot in safe mode run msconfig, goto startup and turn off everything except systray. check yout autoexec.bat file and make sure everything is ok. remove all cd's from your drives and reboot into normal mode. Also unplug any scanners or printers. Ive also have had a similar problem, that took care of it.

for a technical reason to my suggestions, the scanner and printer, more than likely, use dma (direct memory access). If for some reason, the scanner is locked up, the scanner will never give control back to the os, essentially freezing the pc. also, if the cd-rom (which also uses dma transfers) is locked up, then it will never give control back to the system. sometimes when cdrs that were never finished burning are left in the system, the computer will attempt to read this unfinished disc. as a result, the system will hang until that disc is removed. (or the system is rebooted), ive seen this happen on many systems before, just thought i would share this with you.
