  1. Hello,

I really hope it's not a problem to open this thread. I have a problem and I simply cannot solve it.
I have an mkv file with a SubRip and I have another mkv file with a VobSub. These two contain the same movie, however, the length of the breaks differ that's why the length of the two videos differ as well. The first file with the SubRip has better quality, but I prefer VobSub instead. How could I add the VobSub to the first mkv file and replace the SubRip with matching timecodes?

I'm looking forward for your help.

  2. Why not just convert the .srt to idx/vobsub with Subtitle Edit and mux it to the .mkv with srt with MKVToolnix replacing the srt?

You can use Subtitle Edit to replace the timecodes in the idx/vobsub with those from .srt but this requires they have the same numbers of subtitles.

  3. I was thinking about converting the srt to vobsub but I missed one information. The second mkv file has two vobsubs, two different languages (one of them is English, just like the subrip) that's why replacing timecodes is necessary.

Could you explain, please, how to replace the timecodes using Subtitle Edit? They do have the same number of subtitles. Thanks for answering.

  6. Of course since it's MKV you use:

    not

In Subtitle Edit File -> Import/OCR subtitles from VOB/IFO ..
