  1. When i use the 2-pass VBR-settings and hit start it just wont convert any frames. The "elapsed time" counter starts but nothing happends on the framerate convertion-counter. The square remains black.
I have jerked around with the settings but nothing! What have i missed?
When i use the constant bitrate i works just fine. Ive tried to change the "system stream setting" just everything there is. Ive installed divX 3.11 codec and the DivX5Bundle. Im not sure ive got the DivX4 codec.
    Pleeeeeeze help me! Tanx!

The first pass will not do anything other than pre-scan your video file and allocate bandwidth accordingly (ie: more bandwidth to sections with more motion, etc...).

Once the conversion gets to 50% then its onto the second pass, and you will see the preview and the frame counter will start moving. TMPGEnc will actually begin the actual conversion.

If you hit start and it estimates 8 hours to complete, come back in 4 hours (once its at 50%) and then you'll see the video preview

  3. This is actually what the VBR setting does. While the screen is black the movie is actually being scanned. Once it hits 50%, which is the 2nd pass, you will start seeing frames!!!

  4. Ohh, that is priceless information when you convert with an 266 mhz cpu. An 2-pass convertion would take over 20 hours for my computer as it is now.

  5. sorry dude, if it makes you feel any better, im running a 1ghz, and its not fast by any means. Just have to realize that this stuff takes patience!!! I would suggest giving LSX a shot, it takes about half the time. I just started using the program and have had great results!!! Just my opinion, many would disgree!!!

  6. Try the new TMPEG 2.53 in CQ mode.

You'll get far better quality than 2-pass VBR.
Only down side is that you won't be able to predict the final file size.
