Reducing file size means re-encoding and that means "losing the quality".
The End. -
Maybe you could have suggested something like Handbrake, considering this is a brand new user who obviously knows nothing about this topic.
In Handbrake use x264, a x264 slow preset, constant frame rate/same as source, and a CRF of 23-18. Lower CRFs give better quality but a CRF of 18 is considered transparent, meaning there is very little visually lost. Use higher CRFs for smaller file sizes. Use slower presets for smaller sizes, but you get reduced returns the slower you go.
There is a lot more to learn about encoding but this should get you started. -

I just searched the archive and the first I can see is that:

Nah not a spammer. Someone is a negative nancy. Maybe do some chin ups to relieve that stress. I ran my home movies through Final Cut Pro x and when I was happy with the edit I sent it to the compressor that I just installed on my top end MacBook Pro. It brought the file from 1.5gb to 100 mb bit was like watching through a kaleidoscope. Prob gonna have to fudge with settings until I get it right. Any Suggs?

Okay, lets back up a little here.
First, you should have mentioned you were on a mac since most of the good tools available are for PC.
Second, is the 1.5 GB straight out of the phone or after FCPX converts it to ProRes? That makes a huge difference in what you do with Compressor.
If you're inexperienced in this area you're probably better off using the defaults in handbrake. -
yeah pal thanks for chiming in on this. im a newb but i am pretty smart and look things up. ya the video is raw. put through FCPX unedited and put through the compressor. will mess with some setting and see what i can come up with. looking to trim some weight off the files without killing them
